Menopause and Frisky...Oxymoron?

Intimacy is definitely different in midlife...not bad, just different.   For one thing, at this age we don't have the same energy level as we did 20 or 30 years ago.  If you've been in a long-term relationship then you probably know every inch of your partners body better than you know your own (I try to 'not' know mine...'out of sight out of mind' ya know) and you have surely figured out exactly what turns him or her on by now.  And then there is menopause...the symptoms can be difficult to deal with, but not impossible, such as I mentioned in another post about vaginal dryness.  But I have found that not all menopause symptoms are that bad.  Take for example what happened in our house today...

'Mr Holly' and I were enjoying a lazy Saturday afternoon with the fireplace burning while the rain gently fell outside.  We were sitting together on the couch, both reading our own Kindle Fire books, sipping a cup of hot tea.  Mr Holly sat up and closed his Kindle then announced, "I think I am going to take a little nap."  I said, "Oh are you tired honey?"

At precisely that moment I felt a Hot Flash coming on.  I don't know if it was triggered by the fire burning or the hot tea or a combination of both, but I began to feel a sudden need for less clothing and fresh air.  I began fanning my robe front and pulling at the belt tied around my waist.  Mr Holly looked at me with a grin on his face and said, "Well I'm not too tired!"

I will leave the rest to your imagination, but I must say...sometimes Hot Flashes are a Good Thing!

    1. I tried HRT and for about a year it was FANTASTIC! I was 25 again. Then I started non-stop spotting for 3 months. Had to get a D&C and stop HRT :-( since then I have taken a holistic mind body approach that seems to be working for me. Just go with the flow and try to find the positive in everything...including a properly timed hot flash, lol.

      Thanks for stopping by Kelly!

  4. I seem to get my hot flashes at the most inopportune times. When I had my hysterectomy, I kept my ovalries so that I could still enjoy the fun of hot flashes.

  6. I LOVE reading about women who are enjoying their menopause transition. The sexy-side effects are not something people talk about much, but I suspect it happens alot more than we ever suspect. From one frisky midlife blogger to another - Thank you for putting your story out there.
